Hanna watch...

...tropical storm warning is now in effect for the Carolinas coastline, meaning we can experience tropical storm-force conditions within the next 24 hours. According to the forecast, I'll be driving to work in the morning in 20-25 mph winds and higher still when I come home tomorrow. Not to worry, as I'm an old newspaper carrier... I've delivered papers in similar conditions far too many times over the past three decades...

Our schools are closed tomorrow, and the Hilton Head airport has discontinued flights in or out after noon Friday until further notice.

Likely we'll be spending Friday evening waiting out the storm conditions... in case the power goes out, we've got candles, ebooks and PDAs we can recharge in the cars if necessary, plenty of canned food and bottled water and drinks... the cat will no doubt hide under the furniture until the storm conditions pass, and the puppy will demand even more attention that she already does.
